City limits club’s capacity over fire safety concerns

City fire inspectors have cut the legal capacity of Pipeline Cafe to 299 people from 951 after finding several violations at the Kakaako nightclub.

The reduced capacity has forced Pipeline to adjust its entertainment calendar and left promoters scrambling to find substitute venues.

Local musician makes appeal for stolen gear

image002-300x240It’s happened to far too many local musicians to count — leave an instrument unattended for too long, or leave it somewhere it shouldn’t be left in the first place, and it’s bound to get stolen.

That’s what happened to Josh Hancock of Unity Crayons, also known as Josh86 of Hawaii-based bands 86 List and Black Square. On Tuesday, he sent a message to friends and professional contacts describing what happened to his prized Gibson guitar (pictured at right).

‘Hawaii’s Big Deal’

It may not necessarily be written down, but everybody keeps one of those “bucket lists” filed away somewhere.

For me, there are only a handful of things I can think of — other than the standards, like finding true love, getting married, starting a family, etc. — that I’d really like to do before I leave this world. Some, like visiting the original Yankee Stadium before it was torn down, will sadly never happen.

Another list item I thought would never happen? My mug showing up on TV as part of a televised poker tournament.
